Within Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story, the customers are the main visitors to the store, they will comply different functions during the course of the game from being the food tasters each time a new dish is introduced to the store as well as they will use the different facilities available in the store.

The player will be able to unlock different customers during the course of the game by different methods such as exploration where there is the possibility of finding magic books that connect to different worlds where it is necessary to use Future Points to open these portals. The player can give different types of items to customers as gifts helping to increase the “Liking” bar (represented by a series of pink hearts in the game interface), causing them to try to buy more products when they visit the store again. An important aspect of this mechanic is that each item has certain compatibilities depending on the demographic to which the characters belong. On special occasions, there is the possibility that giving an item that is closely related to the customer can help change their appearance, such as giving an encyclopedia to Kiteretsu. Additionally, the player can give special vehicles to certain customers so that they can use them to enter the store area more easily.

When exploring new areas, there is a possibility that the player may come across mysterious books that can be used as portals to contact people in other universes by using Future Points. In case the player acquires the “Come-Here-Cat” gadget, it will add a special bar depicted with a cat and a jar indicating the constant satisfaction of the customers. In case the player is able to fill the gauge correctly, the store will enter a “Fever Mode” causing customers to buy much more products than usual during a short period of time.

Certain customers require store assistants to engage in a test of strength to demonstrate that they are worthy enough for them to visit the store.

It is important to take into account the preferences of local customers, mainly to increase the popularity of the shop, this can be achieved through the combination of different specific ingredients.

Requests

During the course of the game, several customers will ask the player for specific recipes in order to be able to go to the store. The player must combine several ingredients of a certain flavour to complete such requests, such as the use of sweet- flavored ingredients.

Doraemon has specialized gadgets to find the preferences of certain people through the use of a magic magnifying glass.

Contest Participation

Several customers tasting the dishes and rating their quality during the contest.

Some contests require the active participation of the store's regular customers, where it is important that the player tries to improve the quality of their dishes in order to gather more people to give them a higher score, either by improving the cooking skills of the participants or alternatively by using the Food Lab to increase the quality of the dishes that are served in the store.
