Kairosoft Wiki:Moving from Fandom

This is a help page that serves to inform and communicate to users about our migration from Fandom.com - It is based mainly on feedback from the community as well as Wiki.gg staff.

Why did we decide to move to Wiki.gg?

Fandom has many limitations for both editors and readers. One of the main ones is the numerous ads that appear in all parts of the article. These ads get in the way of reading and some mobile browsers can't even load pages due to the resources the website needs to display.

Chrome just called fandom.com an ad and closed it because it takes up too much system resources. Prolly the best callout against the site ive ever seen lmao

This is remarkably detrimental to us, as most of the Wiki visitors use their phones to access information about Kairosoft's games. In addition, much of the developer's library is exclusive for mobile platforms.

Why can't the Original Wiki be deleted?

Fandom.com has a rather restrictive and sometimes unfair policy when it comes to closing wiki's where in only a few cases will they consider closing a wiki. All the content you publish on that site will always be for them, and they will be able to make any modification even without the consent of the local community.

McDon*ld's took over the Grimace wiki page and removed all the real world information, appearances, and citations that I've added over the years and turned the whole page into one big in-universe ad for the birthday promotion

The only cases where they can close the original wiki is if Kairosoft decides to send a DMCA Request (short for Digital Millennium Copyright Act) which allows IP Holders to remove specific content from certain websites). This has been successful in certain cases where game developers and even mod makers have emailed Fandom.com to remove in-game content that exists on the platform.

Admins can't give permission to destroy a wiki, and if they do, they will be demoted and blocked. Further, the content on this platform belongs to fandom and not the admins

Why can't you post messages indicating that the original wiki is obsolete?

Fandom.com does not allow posting links to the new wiki, if you try to post one in an article, and it will automatically mark it as spam and revert your edit, this also applies to discussions and the comments section where Fandom Staff will delete any comment containing a link under the Wiki.gg domain.

This action is an attempt by unknown individuals to tap into Fandom's massive SEO capabilities to drive traffic off our platform onto another site. Additionally, it also damages our entire platform, as a search engine may believe that our entire network - including wikis that may have no similar topic on Wiki.gg - is not authoritative.

A lot of search engines rank their results based on how many links and visits they receive from a website. Fandom.com uses these tactics in order to annihilate its competitors, causing most wikis to appear much lower in the search results and even not to appear in the results at all.

Luckily, Kairosoft's Japanese Wiki changed all the links they had to Wiki.gg when we migrated, allowing us to get more traffic organically.

What will happen to the Old Wiki then?

The Wiki is likely to become obsolete, as many of the editors have moved here. Pro Wrestler Story was the first Kairosoft game where pages were created exclusively for Wiki.gg that never existed on the original Wiki. Causing us to have the opportunity to be the first result for new games when you try to search for game information. Unfortunately a lot of the classic Kairosoft games will be much more difficult, as Google will label the results as duplicate.

Additionally, there is the possibility of vandalism occurring frequently on the wiki as there are no active editors who periodically review information posted by users, so always take what you read there with a grain of salt.

Can I copy the content of this wiki back to Fandom.com?

Short answer, No that is plagiarism. Long answer, this wiki handles a slightly different license with the original one where all contributions are under CC BY SA 4.0 while Fandom.com uses CC BY SA 3.0

There is also the possibility that search engines such as Google tag wikis as duplicates making them not appear, so if you see a user trying to plagiarize without giving us any credit please revoke their contributions or report them.

Additionally, it is necessary to provide an original link to the text, which is not possible because Fandom.com automatically blocks links to other wiki hostings. We generally recommend not editing on that website, considering that fandom has allowed a lot of toxic behaviour and has also harassed groomers (See “FANDOM Is Disgusting” where it explains how the site's staff tried to protect a known abuser).

How can I help this wiki?

• As a casual reader: Install the Wiki.gg Redirect extension, this tool will allow you to redirect all wikis that have moved from fandom.com to this platform, it will also replace the links in the search results.
• As an editor: If you have free time you can help us rewrite old articles to avoid browsers tagging this wiki as a duplicate, the more different and detailed the text is, the easier it is for search engines to index this wiki.

Additionally try to share links to this wiki on social networks, blogs and other external websites, the more pages that redirect here, the higher the chance of this wiki appearing above the outdated one in search results.
